Admission Procedures

  1. Parents wishing to enroll their child in the Ideal Education School must call the school to make an appointment for an admission interview. Both parents are encouraged to attend the interview with their child. Pre-screening will take place during the telephone contact to ensure that the child meets the basic admission criteria. At this time the parents will also be advised of the documentation required (see #4).

  2. The admission interview will be conducted by the School Psychologist and will include the following:

    • Completion of an Application Form- the parent(s) will be asked to complete the form which includes comprehensive background information on the family and child.
    • Introduction to the School- school policies, placement criteria, curriculum, special services and extracurricular activities will be described.
    • Assessment of the Child- the functional levels of the child will be assessed using the levels included in the BCP Curriculum.
    • Medical Review-if the child presents serious medical issues the School Doctor will be consulted.

  3. If the child is found to be suitable for the school and a placement is available, the family will be taken on a tour of the facility and given the opportunity for classroom observations.

  4. Following the tour the family will be escorted to the administrative department where they will be asked to complete the following documents:

    • Copy of the approval from the higher council for the disabled
    • Copy of the disabled certificate
    • Copy of the child's medical reports
